Questions

Ask us the hard ones.

Everything people ask before they start, answered the way we would on the phone. If yours is not here, the number at the foot of the page is a real one.

What it is

  • What is Syphor?

One page, every morning, for every restaurant you run. It reads what you already have — the point of sale, invoices, hours, kitchen times, the manager’s log — and writes it into one page you can finish before your coffee.

  • Is it a dashboard?

No. It is a page you read, not a screen you study. The point is to be finished before your coffee is.

  • Does it replace my POS or my accounting?

No. Keep your POS, your accounting, your vendors. Syphor sits beside them and replaces none of them.

  • Do I have to change anything in my restaurants?

Nothing. We connect to what you already run. Nothing changes in your restaurants.

The brief

  • When does it arrive?

Before seven. One page, on your phone, before the alarm.

  • Is that my local time?

Yes. Before seven where the restaurant is, not where we are.

  • How does it arrive? Email? Text?

Email. Or a text, if that is what you read first. And it is in Syphor whenever you open it.

  • What is in it?

Last night against that restaurant’s own normal: sales, checks, average check, what you kept, voids, discounts, labor, the kitchen, invoices that moved, what is on locally, the weather, reviews, and the manager’s log. And what needs you today, in order.

  • What does “your own normal” mean?

Every number is checked against that restaurant’s own normal — not an average, not a benchmark, never another business.

  • Who is it for?

People who run restaurants. One restaurant or forty-nine, and groups with a head office. Hotels with restaurants too.

  • What are the jobs I can pick?

Operator, area manager, GM, floor, CFO, books, kitchen, marketing. Pick yours and the page changes with it.

What it reads

  • What systems does it work with?

Sixty systems, and seven things that need no system at all. Point of sale, labor and scheduling, inventory and food cost, accounting, reservations, delivery, hotel systems. The full list is on Works with, and that page is the one that counts.

  • What if my POS is not on the list?

Then we build it, and we do not charge you for it. Toast, Square, Clover, Oracle MICROS, Lightspeed and Revel are read today; eighteen more open with your own key.

  • What works on day one with nothing to connect?

Seven things: weather, events, reviews, social media, your competitor list, the manager’s logbook, and invoices. All seven are reading the morning you sign, and they cost nothing.

  • My restaurants are on different POS systems. Does it still work?

Yes. Run five restaurants on three different systems and they still land on one page, the same morning.

Invoices

  • How do invoices get in?

Three ways. Forward it — every restaurant has its own address, tell the vendor to send it there. Photograph it — the creased delivery slip the driver left on the pass. Paste it — some vendors send it as text.

  • Do I have to type invoices in?

No. Nobody types an invoice into Syphor. It arrives, and it is in your numbers before the driver has left.

Starting

  • What happens after I say yes?

The call: twenty minutes, once. That night: your history comes with it. The morning after: your first brief. Week two: it starts to know your Tuesdays. Week eight: a quiet Tuesday stops being a worry. Or leave your details, and somebody calls you inside a working day.

  • What do you need from me?

Three things. The address, so the weather and what is on locally are yours and not the region’s. Which point of sale, and who looks after it if it is not you. Twenty minutes, once.

  • Does somebody come to the restaurant?

No. Nobody comes to the restaurant. Nothing to install, nothing to download.

  • Does it start from zero?

No. The feed reaches back as far as your point of sale kept, and five years of your own weather arrives with it. The first brief already has something to compare to.

The thirty days

  • Is there a free trial?

Thirty days on your own numbers, nothing to pay. Cancel inside thirty days and you owe nothing.

  • Why do you need my card for a trial?

So the account can carry on without a second conversation. Thirty days pass before anything is charged to it — not the month, and not the setup.

  • What if I cancel on day twenty-nine?

You owe nothing. There is no invoice — not the month, and not the setup charge, because the setup charge lands on the first invoice and there is not one.

  • What happens on day thirty-one?

The first invoice is raised: the month ahead, plus the setup charge, once.

Money

  • How much is it?

$199 a month, per restaurant. From five restaurants up, add $399 a month for a head office, if you have one. One setup charge, once: $250 a restaurant, $500 for head office. Nothing after that.

  • Is that US dollars?

Yes. Prices are set in US dollars. A Canadian customer pays the same number in Canadian dollars — CA$199, not a conversion.

  • Do I have to pay for head office if I have five restaurants?

No. It is available from five, and only if you have one. It is not compulsory at any size.

  • What does head office get me?

The group on one page: every restaurant side by side, the same morning, and the Playbooks across them — what one site does better and what it is worth if the rest copy it.

Your data

  • Does it write to my POS?

No. There is no path back. Syphor cannot change a price, void a check, move a shift or touch a table. Data comes out; nothing goes in.

  • What does it know about my staff?

A payroll number, a name, a job, and the dates somebody started and left. It is never sent home addresses, social security numbers, telephone numbers or emails. Those are not in the export at all.

  • Does it see wages?

Hours by person and by job, set against the sales those hours produced. Pay rates come from whichever system holds them — the POS, a labor platform, a time-card system — once that system is connected. It reads what it is fed.

  • Does it see my guests’ names or card numbers?

No card numbers — no column for one exists anywhere in Syphor. A guest name only where your point of sale already records one against a check, or a manager writes one in a note. No guest email, telephone number or address, anywhere.

  • Do you sell my data?

No. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone, and never shared for somebody else’s marketing. The services that do handle it, and what each one receives, are listed on the privacy page.

  • What happens to my numbers if I leave?

Deleted, thirty days after you cancel, and sooner if you ask. The raw files too.

  • What if the brief gets something wrong?

Tell us. We find out why, we tell you what it should have been and what caused it, and we say whether any other morning was affected by the same thing. A number it cannot show you the working for is a number it will not print.

Groups and hotels

  • I run twenty restaurants. Does this work for me?

Yes. Twenty restaurants at $199 each, $250 setup each, and a head office page at $399 a month if you want it. It does not get harder at twenty than it is at one.

  • What does a group get that a single restaurant does not?

One page across every restaurant, the same morning, whatever systems they run. Playbooks: every Tuesday Syphor scans your restaurants for something one of them runs better, why it works, and what it is worth if the rest copy it. And the head office page from five up.

  • Do you work with hotels?

Yes. Oracle OPERA Cloud and OPERA 5, Mews, Cloudbeds, Stayntouch, Agilysys. Rooms, groups and the house count, so a quiet Tuesday can be explained before you go looking for a reason.

  • Do you do franchises?

Fifty and up is a conversation — connectors, franchise structure and a pilot get written into it. Under fifty, the price is the price.

Straight answers

  • Can you guarantee results?

No. We are not going to pretend we know. Nobody has read your restaurant yet. What you get is thirty days on your own numbers to find out.

  • I do not trust automated numbers.

Neither does it. A number it cannot show you the working for is a number it will not print. When it cannot see something it says so, in the place the number would have been.

  • My POS already has reports.

Keep them. Syphor reads what you already have and replaces none of it. What it adds is the page: every number against your own normal, the invoices, the P&L, and the why.

  • My restaurant is too small for this.

One restaurant, $199 a month. The bar is $6.54 a day — one catch a week worth forty-six dollars. You already know whether you clear it.

SyphorOne page, every morning.
